Relocating in Southern California?
Whether buying a home or building your business, Santa Clarita may be the place for you!
The picturesque Santa Clarita Valley, located just north of the San Fernando Valley,
extends over 400 square miles and includes a unique and well-balanced blend of rural, urban,
suburban, and master planned communities comprising the cities of Valencia, Stevenson Ranch,
Newhall, Saugus, Canyon Country, Castaic and the westernmost Agua Dulce areas.
Situated above the smog and crowding of Los Angeles — and separated from the San
Fernando Valley by the San Gabriel and Santa Suzanna mountain ranges — Santa Clarita
boasts cleaner air and a better way of life while remaining within reach of everything.
Nestled between the 14, 126 and Interstate 5 freeways, Santa Clarita is just 8 miles north
of the San Fernando Valley, 30-40 minutes east of Ventura's scenic beaches and 90 minutes
south of the closest ski resorts.
Santa Clarita provides three Metrolink train stations to choose from and its own public
transportation service.
Population
With a combined population of over 225,000 people, the Santa Clarita Valley area has
been dubbed one of the fastest growing regions in the United States and amazingly enough,
according to the Federal Bureau of Investigation study conducted in June of 2003, the City
of Santa Clarita is the 5th safest city of its size in the United States.
A Family-Friendly Community
The City of Santa Clarita is a very family-friendly community with schools that consistently
rank in the top 10% in California. The city's adult population over the age of 25 is highly
educated. Approximately 39% of the adult population has attained a degree beyond the high
school diploma.
Colleges. Residents of the Santa Clarita Valley appreciate the opportunity to
attend any one of its 3 colleges -- Master's, Institute of the Arts and College of the
Canyons. California State University of Northridge, for those seeking a higher-level education
that is "close to home", is located in the nearby San Fernando Valley.
Economics
Economic stability? You bet! The City of Santa Clarita continues to enjoy the lowest
unemployment rate in Los Angeles County among cities with populations over 100,000. Santa
Clarita's unemployment rate is substantially lower than that of many of its neighboring
cities — and is also a more affluent city when compared to Los Angeles County as a
whole. Only 5% of Santa Clarita's families live in poverty — evidence that further
illustrates the wealth of Santa Clarita.
Business Parks
The many business parks in the Santa Clarita Valley house a variety of different industries
including technology, industrial, manufacturing, bio-medical and R&D. The Santa Clarita
Valley continues to be a select location spot for the film industry. Many popular commercials,
films (Haunted Mansion, The Last Samurai,
etc.), music videos, and television shows (JAG, etc.) continue to
be shot in the Santa Clarita Valley.
